Primary Functions

• Manage the financial affairs of the Diocese of Helena in accordance with direction received from our Bishop.
• Provide support to the various parishes and missions in the diocese relative to financial and insurance matters.
• Provide financial management support to Catholic Social Services for Montana, Resurrection Cemetery Association, the Foundation for the Diocese of Helena, Inc., and The Clergy Senior Status and Security Trust (Priests' Retirement Fund).
• Provide support to the Bishop in promoting stewardship activities throughout the diocese.
• Manage fund raising efforts for the diocese (including the Diocesan Offertory Program) and provide consultative services to the parishes regarding fund raising, including small (less than $1 million) capital campaigns.
• Prepare grant applications on behalf of the diocese and individual parishes.
• Prepare and implement policies to guide the financial affairs of the diocese.

Overview of Financial Services

Financial Services is headed by Mr. Pete McNamee, the Diocesan Finance Officer for the Diocese of Helena. Mr. McNamee has served in this capacity since 1978. He is supported by a very diligent and knowledgeable staff that provide support in accounting, finance, insurance, property management, information services, systems maintenance, and stewardship consulting.

Financial Services is supported by the Diocesan Finance Council, a consultative body to the Bishop regarding financial matters. This group meets once a month to address various issues that arise relative to the financial affairs of the diocese.
