Diocesan Office of Religious Education
The Diocesan Office of Religious Education (DORE) provides resource and consultation services to parishes and schools of the diocese in their efforts to promote and sustain lifelong formation in the Catholic faith. These services are offered primarily through guidelines and policy statements on catechetical matters, formational and enrichment opportunities for catechetical and pastoral leaders as well as the general public, and diocesan training and certification processes for parish catechists and Catholic school religion teachers.
Echoes of Faith
Echoes of Faith (PDF*) is a basic-level, video-assisted resource for the formation, enrichment, and certification of parish and Catholic school catechists in the Diocese of Helena. Echoes of Faith consists of thirteen modules that treat theological and catechetical themes in providing the most important understandings for a beginning catechist.
Sourcebook for Catechetical Leadership
The Sourcebook for Catechetical Leadership was first published in 1996 and, with periodic updates, is a valuable resource for every parish and Catholic school in the diocese, especially those persons responsible for leadership in local faith formation endeavors. The Sourcebook contains normative information on:
- the administration of local catechetical programming
- instructional guidelines for children and youth (P-12)
- religion textbook selection and use
- catechesis with adults
- catechesis for Christian sexuality
- sacramental catechesis (including RCIA)
- catechetical resources
- catechist formation and certification.
Copies of The Sourcebook are available from the Catholic Formation office. An online edition is forthcoming.
Christian Human Sexuality
Christian Human Sexuality is an integral part of continuing formation in faith for people of all ages, especially parents and young people. In addition to program guidelines and curriculum resources for such instruction, the Catholic Formation Department offers several options for parish and Catholic school consideration.
Deanery DRE/Coordinator Convenings
Periodic gatherings of parish DREs and RE Coordinators are held throughout the year in each deanery, and provide an opportunity for catechetical leaders to share their wisdom, concerns and talents with one another and, through the Christian Formation Division, the diocese at large.
