The Season of Lent calls all of us to undertake personal penitential practices.
In addition, the Church requires particular days of Fast (Ash Wednesday and Good Friday) and Abstinence (Ash Wednesday and all the Fridays of Lent).
Those who
are 18 and not yet 60 are to fast on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday that
is a single normal meal and the possibility of two additional small meals, not
equaling another full meal.
Those who are 14 and older abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday
and the Fridays of Lent.
In the Diocese of Helena, priests assigned to parishes may dispense these
obligations for a good reason (such as medical needs).
