Indian summer art market
The second annual Helena Indian Summer Art Market will be held the weekend of June 18-20. Scheduled at Helena Memorial Park, it will feature paintings, clothing, jewelry, beads and other artwork by a number of American Indian artists. All proceeds will benefit Wakina Sky, a Catholic Campaign for Human Development funded project. A reception for the artists is set for Friday evening; tickets are required. Fr. Fortney’s 25th Jubilee
A celebration honoring the 25th anniversary of Father Ken Fortney’s ordination to the priesthood will take place at St. William Church in Thompson Falls from 2 to 6 p.m. June 20. For more information call Mrs. Billie Haughton at (406) 827-0821.

Monastic experience
The Benedictine Sisters of Mother of God Monastery in Watertown, S.D., are sponsoring a week of Benedictine awareness for women June 20-25. Women age 17 and older are invited to the monastery to experience monastic life by joining in the community’s prayer and work. Guests are welcome at other times if this week is not convenient.

The community is located in a rural setting surrounded by trees, fields and many beauties of nature. The sisters minister in education, health care, parish ministry, spiritual programs and retreats.

UGF offers high school leadership camp
Rafting down the Missouri river, participating in traditional Native American youth games, conquering a ropes course, participating in Lewis and Clark activities, and preparing prayer services and liturgies are some of the activities high school students will experience at a conference June 23-27 on the University of Great Falls campus in Great Falls. The private, Catholic school is offering a values-based leadership program, “Cultivating Active Leadership for Life (CALL): A Faith-Based Leadership Experience” for students of all faiths who will enter the 2004-2005 school year as juniors and seniors. The theme is to live fully, empower yourself, act justly and develop spirituality.

Women’s conference
The Helena Diocese Council of Catholic Women annual women’s conference will be held at Pope John XXIII Parish, Missoula, on June 25, 26 and 27. All Catholic women are invited. Speakers are Susan Muskett, the National Council of Catholic Women’s executive director, and three Montanans who are active on the diocesan and national level – Lillian Judge, Susan Porrovecchio and Julie French.

Vocations retreat
The Sisters of Providence welcome women ages 20-40 who are discerning a religious vocation to attend a retreat in Spokane, Wash. It will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, July 30, at Mount St. Joseph in Spokane and will conclude Sunday, Aug. 1.
