The Board of Trustees of Foundation for the Diocese of Helena, Inc. met Friday, Dec., 12 in Helena. The meeting’s agenda included a review of the foundation’s investment portfolios. The trustees typically receive quarterly summaries with the last one received for the quarter ending Sept. 30.
In light of the nation’s recent economic turmoil, the foundation’s finance committee requested more current information from the investment managers in preparation for Friday’s meeting. Though the value of foundation assets has fallen since the beginning of the year, the portfolio continues to outperform its comparable indices. Earnings from the foundation’s endowments provide resources for the diocese’s parishes, programs and ministries.
“We utilize two portfolio managers, each with differing investment philosophies. And thus, we do not, so to speak, have all our eggs in one basket. While we know that we have suffered losses, we believe that we are in a good position to provide for the long-term future and health of the Church in the Diocese of Helena,” stated Beth Yeakel, Foundation Services Director.
