Twelve men in various stages of discerning a vocation to priesthood met with Bishop George Leo Thomas at Legendary Lodge on July 11-12. In the fall, two of these men will be in college, four will participate in a spirituality year, two will be taking philosophy and other classes in pre-theology, and four will be in theological studies.
The weekend gave the opportunity for the seminarians and potential seminarians to come to know each other, to pray together and have the opportunity for conversation with one another and with their bishop.
Bishop Thomas shared some of his expectations for seminarians and reflected about the importance of the four foundations upon which priestly formation is based: human, intellectual, spiritual and pastoral. Each man is called to be formed so that the example of his life appropriately reflects the presence of Jesus Christ in the midst of the People of God.
