Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth officers beginning new, six-year terms include sisters who have served in Montana or have family ties here. The officers are in Leavenworth, Kan.

Sister Maureen Hall will serve as community director. From Billings originally and a member of the religious order for 49 years, her background includes two previous terms in SCL leadership positions. She has worked in pastoral ministry in Kansas, Missouri and Montana, in elementary education and as the SCL formation director. Boards on which she serves include those for the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System, a multistate hospital organization that includes facilities in Butte, Billings and Miles City; the University of St. Mary, in Leavenworth; and the Charity Federation, representing 12 SCL congregations and 4,000 members.

Sister Eileen Hurley, a native of Butte, is beginning a term as councilor. She has been an elementary school teacher, a director of religious education and youth ministry, a pastoral associate and a pastoral administrator, most recently as director of the Office of Lay Ministry for the Diocese of Great Falls-Billings. Boards on which she has served include those for the Montana Catholic Conference and Catholic Social Services of Montana. She is on the board for St. Vincent Healthcare in Billings. Sister Eileen is marking her 50th anniversary as a member of the SCL.

Sister Peg Johnson is beginning her second term as the SCL secretary. Originally from Kansas City, Kan., her 45 years in the religious community have included extensive work as a music educator, including work in Helena and Billings. She also has held administrative positions in Catholic high schools. Sister Peg has served on the boards for the University of St. Mary and St. Vincent Healthcare.
