People from three states gathered at the Cathedral of St. Helena’s Brondel Center this
summer for classes to strengthen competencies in youth ministry. The Center for Ministry
Development in Gig Harbor, Wash., presented the classes June 23-26 and July 8-11. The
center offers a Certificate in Youth Ministries program. The classes are designed for leaders
in Catholic parishes and schools and correlate to national standards for youth-ministry
certification, standards the National Federation for Youth Ministry developed in conjunction
with the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The classes hosted by the Diocese
of Helena drew 30 participants. They were from Montana, Washington and Nevada. Above,
Kurt Wambaugh, a youth minister from Missoula, and Melanie Magee, a youth ministry
coordinator at Little Flower Parish in Browning, take part in classes at the Brondel Center.
