Delegates representing Knights of Columbus councils throughout Montana gathered in Great Falls for the 106th annual Montana State Knights of Columbus Convention, April 15-18.

The State Knight and Family of the Year were honored at the banquet, with both awards going to Knights from Council 844 in Helena. The Montana State Knight of the Year is Jim McKeon, a member of the Cathedral of St. Helena Parish and financial secretary for Council 844. Carl, Gail and Kevin O’Loughlin of St. Mary Parish in Helena were named Family of the Year.

Convention speakers included representatives of Special Olympics, the Montana Catholic Conference, Catholic Social Services of Montana and the Poor Clares. Also speaking were Supreme Representative David Bellendier, Bishop George Leo Thomas and Bishop Michael Warfel. Plaques in acknowledgement of outstanding projects by councils around the state were presented during a luncheon.

Officeholders elected include State Deputy Rod McElwee of Polson and State Advocate Dave McLean of Anaconda.

Several charitable organizations supported by the Montana Knights of Columbus received contributions. State Community Chairman Marty Beatty noted the Knights give money and thousands of volunteer hours to their parishes and communities.
