Jim Kaney of St. Francis of Assisi
Parish in Hamilton is the new board president
for The
Foundation for the Diocese of Helena.

Kaney is one of four officers elected at
the board’s annual meeting Oct. 1 in
Helena. Also elected were Sidni
Markovich of St. Ann Parish in Butte, vice
president; Teresa Hartzog of St. Mary
Parish in Helena, secretary; and Willis
Wetstein of Ss. Cyril and Methodius
Parish in East Helena, treasurer. Bob
Pearce Jr. of St. Richard Parish in
Columbia Falls completed three, one-year
terms as board president. Now past president,
he will serve on the foundation’s
Executive Committee, as will the newly
elected officers.
Seven trustees were re-elected to threeyear
terms on the board. They are Kaney;
Pearce; Jim Bell of Christ the King Parish
in Missoula; Father Eric Gilbaugh of Holy
Family Parish in Three Forks and Valley
of Flowers Mission in Belgrade; Msgr.
Joseph Harrington of Helena; Bob
Robinson of the Cathedral of St. Helena
Parish; and Fred Stradinger of St. Rose of
Lima Parish in Dillon.
Pete Ridgeway of St. Anthony Parish
in Missoula was elected to the board for
the first time. He and his wife of 45 years,
Cindy, have three children and eight
grandchildren. In addition to serving on
the finance council at St. Anthony Parish,
he is active in United Way, Larchmont
Golf Course and the Montana State Senior
Golf Association.
At the Oct. 1 board meeting, Jacki
Frank of the Helena accounting firm
Anderson Zurmehlen reported on the
foundation’s completed audit for the fiscal
year that ended June 30. The financial
statements will appear in The Montana
Catholic next month.
