The Mass of the Holy Spirit, the academic year’s first gathering intended for Carroll College students, faculty and staff as a whole, was celebrated at the Cathedral of St. Helena on Sunday, Sept. 12. In his homily, Carroll’s chaplain Father Marc Lenneman reflected on the group of about 100 Carroll students, mostly freshmen, who walked together from the college to the cathedral. “So many young people walking together to the church, to become who you are, livings stones in the Church,” he said. “I got here and I saw so many wonderful colleagues from Carroll, and I was amazed and touched that so many people would take time tonight to worship, especially people who are not Catholic—who thought it was worth their while tonight to gather as one family in this place.” Bishop George Leo Thomas celebrated the Mass. The cathedral was nearly full. Above, Carroll College faculty and staff, including Carroll President Dr. Tom Trebon, join in the opening song during the Mass of the Holy Spirit.
