Project helps Helena-area students obtain school supplies
As the 2010-11 academic year
approached, the Stuff the Bus project in
the Helena area collected more than
12,000 pounds of school supplies for children
in need. Children had the opportunity
to obtain supplies the week before classes
began.
Stuff the Bus is a community-based
social justice project involving all churches
in the community. Participating businesses
and agencies were encouraged to
take their donations to the church in their
neighborhood.
Key collaborators in Stuff the Bus
include Good Samaritan Ministries and
the Angel Fund, which works to help provide
children with clothing and supplies.
Diocese contributes to Peter’s Pence, Catholic Communication Campaign appeals
The people of the Diocese of Helena
contributed $27,801 to the 2010 Peter’s
Pence appeal, and $4,500 to the 2010
Catholic Communication Campaign.
Peter’s Pence supports Church needs,
humanitarian initiatives, and social promotion
projects, in the name of the Holy
Father. The appeal is conducted in January
in this diocese.
The Catholic Communication
Campaign monies come from funds raised
through the Annual Catholic Appeal. A
separate appeal is not conducted in this
diocese. Founded in 1979, the CCC
responds to the national and local communications
needs of the Church in the
United States.
