The Annual Catholic Appeal (ACA) has a long history in the Diocese of Helena of raising funds to support various ministries promoted by the bishop. For nearly 40 years, this appeal was known as the Diocesan Offertory Program, or DOP. In the spring of 2009, the Diocesan Offertory Program was moved from its usual spring time frame to the fall, and given a new name: Annual Catholic Appeal. This appeal for funds is conducted yearly.
The program provides approximately one third of the overall budget for the diocese and is a very important component to providing the resources needed to support the many activities, programs and ministries of the Church in western Montana.
The ACA 2011 campaign as of September 7, 2012 was at 87%, or $1,428,833 of the $1.7 million goal pledged. Across the diocese, the average participation rate is at 36%, with a total of 6,120 donors, and a 95% redemption rate. The average pledged gift to ACA 2011 was $241.
Glenda Seipp, diocesan Stewardship and Annual Giving Services Director, administers the program and is assisted in her efforts by both diocesan and parish support staff who follow a prescribed plan to complete the appeal. |
