Communications Services promotes communication within the diocese, with other dioceses, and with the public media. The office prepares diocesan press releases for television, radio, and print media, and coordinates with the press during special diocesan events.

The director answers general requests for information from individuals, parishes, other institutions of the Catholic Church, and non Church-related organizations.

Communications Services produces and distributes The Montana Catholic newspaper, the diocesan directory, videos of special events, pamphlets and booklets, and develops and maintains the diocesan websites, as well as providing communications support for other chancery divisions, interdiocesan offices and parishes.

The Montana Catholic Newspaper

The Montana Catholic newspaper serves the Roman Catholic community of the Diocese of Helena. Tabloid in format, it is published 12 times per year. The Montana Catholic is mailed directly to some 9,000 homes for an estimated readership of 15,750. Some parishes and institutions make free copies available on their literature stands.

All contributors to the Annual Catholic Appeal and from Age to Age receive a subscription to the newspaper as part of their contribution. Individuals who do not contribute to the ACA may subscribe separately. Provision is made for free subscriptions for persons who wish to receive the paper but cannot afford it.
